While award ceremonies recognise the achievements of winners, this year, more than ever, the annual Australian Accounting Awards recognised the vital role of all accountants across the country.
“The past year has been one of the most challenging for business owners, many of whom turned to their accountants for support and advice vital to helping them deal with the impact of the pandemic,” says National Managing Partner Bradd Morelli.
This may explain why organiser Accountants Daily received a record 621 submissions this year for the 34 individual and group award categories. At the award ceremony gala dinner in Sydney on June 18, Accountants Daily editor Jotham Lian said the awards played an important role in recognising the hard work and dedication shown by accountants in a trying year, and that the “sheer tenacity and resilience shown by practitioners across the country over the past year has been nothing short of amazing”.
As a Gold Partner of the awards, which were MC-ed by comedian/actor/radio presenter Merrick Watts, Jirsch Sutherland sponsored two categories: the Partner of the Year (Boutique Firm), which was awarded to Aly Garett, All In Advisory, and the Regional/Suburban Firm of the Year, which was won by Trinity Accountants.
“Congratulations to all the winners, who excelled in an exceptionally challenging past year,” says Morelli, who presented the firm’s two sponsored awards. “Celebrating success, especially after many months of change, is so important – and in the company of so many of our peers and colleagues, in person, was a real highlight. We applaud all the nominees and award winners and thank Accountants Daily for organising these awards and for holding a fantastic, positive and inspiring event.”
